High School Principal's Message
Mr. John Hill, Principal
Dear Students, Parents and Community Members,
As Principal of Kenton Ridge High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to the final year at the old Kenton Ridge High School building. The class of 2023 will be the final class to graduate from the first Kenton Ridge High School building. We look forward to the 2023-2024 school year in our new building with the Elementary and Middle School students. This will give us the opportunity to grow, mature, and model our core PBIS values of Respecting each other, Owning our actions, Accepting differences and Realizing our potential to create a positive, inclusive culture. Due to the fact that we are transitioning into new buildings with Northeastern this year and Kenton Ridge next year, we will not begin school this year until August 30th.
We are excited to have our students, staff and new staff members back in the classrooms and hallways to fill the with energy and enthusiasm to grow, mature and learn. At Kenton Ridge, we have outstanding teachers and staff who spend a great deal of time creating a culture that is safe and conducive to learning. It is the mission of all staff members, from the teachers, administration and guidance to the secretaries, custodians, aides and cooks, to make every student welcome and connected to the Kenton Ridge family. By the time the students graduate from Kenton Ridge, our goal is to have them college-ready or workforce ready by the end of their four years while creating some great memories in their high school experience. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices by analyzing academic data to determine current skill levels and set growth and improvement goals. We believe all students should graduate from Kenton Ridge with the skills needed to meet the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.
While teaching and learning are our primary focus, school is so much more than just books and test scores. We pride ourselves on the outstanding extracurricular opportunities we have to offer in sports, the arts, service organizations and other clubs. Students are so lucky to have passionate teachers and staff members who give freely of their time to help students enjoy these activities. Please encourage your son or daughter to get involved in whatever capacity they can because involvement in these activities can improve student’s mental health, physical well-being, and teambuilding and enhance student-teacher relationships.
At Kenton Ridge High School, student success is the goal of every staff member. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your student’s education. As partners, we share in the responsibility for our student’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask you to guide and support your student’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day's learning experience
2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5. informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college or a successful career
I am honored and blessed to have served as principal at Kenton Ridge High School since 2008. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships and partnerships that support academic and social growth.
Once again, welcome back, and let’s continue the tradition here at Kenton Ridge that has made this such a great high school. GO COUGARS!
Sincerely,
John R. Hill
