High School Principal's Message
Mr. John Hill, Principal
Dear Students, Parents and Community Members,
I am proud to welcome you to the new Kenton Ridge School building. As the Principal, it gives me great pleasure to announce that the class of 2024 will be the first to graduate from our new building. We are excited about the 2023-2024 school year, which will see the Elementary and Middle School students joining us in our new PK-12 Campus. Being together on one campus will provide us with the opportunity to foster positive, inclusive culture, and model our core PBIS values of Respect, Ownership, Acceptance, and Realization of potential.
As we transition into the new building, we have made a few adjustments to our academic calendar. The new school year will begin on August 29th for students with last names A-K, August 30th for last names L-Z, and August 31st for all students.
We are excited to have our students, staff and new staff members back in the classrooms and hallways, where they can fill the spaces with enthusiasm and energy to grow, mature and learn. At Kenton Ridge, our teachers and staff are exceptional, dedicating a great deal of time to cultivate a nurturing, safe and conducive learning environment. It is the mission of all staff members, from the teachers, administration and guidance to the secretaries, custodians, aides and cooks, to make every student feel welcome and connected to the Kenton Ridge family. Our goal is to have our students college or workforce-ready by the end of their four years while also creating lasting memories of their high school experience. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices by analyzing academic data to determine current skill levels and set growth and improvement goals. We believe that every student should graduate from Kenton Ridge with the necessary skills needed to meet the demands of post-secondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.
While teaching and learning are our primary focus, school is so much more than just books and test scores. We take pride in the diverse range of extracurricular activities we offer, including sports, the arts, service organizations, and other clubs. Our dedicated teachers and staff members are passionate about helping students participate in these activities, which can benefit their mental and physical health, foster teambuilding skills, and enhance their relationships with teachers. We encourage parents to encourage their children to get involved in any capacity they can.
At Kenton Ridge, our staff members strive to achieve student success. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your student’s education. As partners, we share in the responsibility for our student’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask you to guide and support your student’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day's learning experience
- Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college or a successful career
I am honored and blessed to have served as principal at Kenton Ridge High School since 2008. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships and partnerships that support academic and social growth.
Once again, welcome back, and let’s continue the tradition here at the new Kenton Ridge School that has made this such a great school. GO COUGARS!
Sincerely,
John R. Hill
